Requirements

Mandatory and recommended are kept separate

Hard requirements

50 Smithing

Required to smelt mithril bars.

Started The Giant Dwarf

Required for normal Blast Furnace access.

2 coal per bar

The Blast Furnace halves the normal coal requirement.

Official Blast Furnace world

The automated dwarves operate the machinery on designated worlds.

Recommended

60 Smithing

Avoids the 2,500 coin foreman payment every 10 minutes. The 72,000 GP/hr coffer cost still applies.

Coal bag

Carries 27 extra coal and keeps the bar cycle practical.

Ice gloves or Smiths' gloves (i)

Allows immediate bar collection without a bucket of water.

Stamina potions

Maintains the bank, conveyor and dispenser loop.

Clean bank layout

Keeps ore, coal and stamina withdrawals consistent.

Location and access

Blast Furnace, Keldagrim

1

Travel to Keldagrim and use the Blast Furnace on an official world. The Grand Exchange trapdoor route is quick after the first visit.

2

Deposit coins in the coffer, prepare the coal bag and keep the bank chest arranged for the repeated load.

Method

A repeatable practical cycle

1
Fund the coffer

Deposit enough coins for the session and pay the foreman separately if below 60 Smithing.

2
Set the coal pattern

Deposit mithril ore with one coal-bag load, then make the additional coal trip needed to complete the two-coal ratio before collecting.

3
Collect the bars

Equip Ice gloves or Smiths' gloves (i), take the bars and bank them before the output buffer fills.

4
Repeat at a measured pace

Use 3,600 bars/hr only as the upper reference for the current guide. A realistic range is roughly 3,300 to 3,600 bars/hr with a coal bag.

XP vs profit

What changes the tradeoff

108,000 Smithing XP/hr at 3,600 bars

Each mithril bar gives 30 Smithing XP. Pace raises XP and output together, while 2 coal per bar, stamina use and the coffer determine net profit.

Common mistakes

Method-specific checks

1

Using the normal furnace coal ratio instead of 2 coal per bar

2

Forgetting coffer or foreman payments

3

Collecting without Ice gloves or water

4

Letting the output buffer fill before taking bars

Useful upgrades

Improvements that affect this method

1
Coal bag

Provides the largest practical improvement to the conveyor cycle.

2
Ice gloves

Removes the water-bucket collection step.

3
Smiths' gloves (i)

Combines useful glove effects after the related unlocks.

4
Ring of endurance

Supports long sessions after the core ore pattern is consistent.
