Attack mechanics
Recognize the animation, then react
Standard dragonfire
Maintain the shield, potion and prayer combination required by the selected Ranged or melee loadout.
Ranged projectile
A spiked projectile that can hit hard against ranged setups when not protected.
Venomous dragonfire
Keep anti-venom active because dragonfire protection does not prevent the green attack from inflicting venom.
Prayer-disabling dragonfire
Reactivate quick prayers immediately after the pink projectile switches every active prayer off.
Deadly fireball
Move at least two tiles as the vertical orange attack launches. Dragonfire protection does not block it.
Zombified spawn
Stop attacking Vorkath and cast Crumble Undead immediately. Do not let the spawn reach you.
Acid pool phase
Turn run off, find a clear lane, and walk continuously between safe tiles until the phase ends.
Melee swipe
Triggered at close range. Step away when using ranged to remove this attack from the rotation.

Prioritizes accuracy, dragonfire protection, and manageable replacement cost.
Upgrade first: move into a Dragon hunter crossbow before chasing smaller accuracy upgrades.
Kill strategy
A repeatable six-step loop
Prepare before waking Vorkath
Confirm antifire, anti-venom, prayer, quick prayers, and Crumble Undead are ready.
Start with your special attack
Use your chosen defence-reducing or damage special, then switch immediately to your main weapon.
Count six ordinary attacks
Vorkath alternates its two specials after every six ordinary attacks, so preserve movement space before the next special begins.
Delete the spawn
When Vorkath freezes you, click the zombified spawn with Crumble Undead and wait for the phase to finish.
Walk the acid phase
Turn run off. Pick a clear row with several empty tiles and walk back and forth without stopping.
Reset cleanly
Loot, restore prayer if needed, check potion timers, and only wake Vorkath when your inventory is organized.

What should I upgrade next?
Priority depends on your chosen Ranged or melee route
Ranged: dragon crossbow → dragon hunter crossbow
The dragonbane crossbow is the main damage upgrade while keeping the anti-dragon shield or dragonfire ward route intact.
Melee: abyssal stab weapon → dragon hunter lance
Use this separate route with a defender, extended super antifire and Protect from Magic rather than mixing Ranged gear into it.
Dragonfire ward or Avernic defender
Upgrade the off-hand that belongs to the weapon route you actually use after the dragonbane weapon is secured.
